Liliana came over the next day. She was sleeping over that night. Dad brought in her big purple suitcase. Liliana gave me my costume, it was exquisite!
The part around our shoulders was a nice, sheer fabric, Then from the bosom to the waist was a soft, velvety fabric. The color was outstanding. Where the sheer fabric and velvet met there was a pretty gold crested design, there was the same thing on the back. Starting at the waist there was a tutu, the bottom layer was a red fabric that matched the part on our chest. The top layer was sheer fabric, and the sheer was lined with velvet. For our headpiece we had a gold barrette that matched our costumes that we clipped on our bun.
Christian called to mom:
“Can I bring my guitar to the hotel?” -he’s been playing since 6th grade.-
“No, Christian we don’t have room in the car!” That ended that conversation. We all know that if mom says there is no room, there is NO room. We have a small car so we can only bring what we need. That means Buster's crate wouldn’t fit. We had to drop him off at our grandparents house for the weekend. Liliana helped me pack.
Later, Liliana mentioned that she baked something for us. We brought them into the kitchen and everyone got a plate and a fork.
“They are mini vanilla cakes with chocolate frosting,” Liliana told us. They were delicious. When Christian tried them he started to sniff a little. Then he coughed.
“Christian no! There’s peanut oil in them!” Liliana said almost shouting. Christian is severely allergic to peanuts! His face started to get red and started to swell.
“Honey get the Epipen from the bathroom!” Mom told my dad. I was trying to help Christian. Liliana was crying and Buster (the dog)was a little bit freaked out. He started to cough when dad hurried in with the Epipen. I quickly moved out of the way and dad gave him the shot. We brought him into the living room and over to the couch. He started to stop coughing and we gradually saw the swelling receding.
Liliana was still in the kitchen crying. I left Christian with Mom and Dad.
“I’m so sorry!” she sniffled.
“Oh Lil! It’s not your fault,” I told her
“Is he OK? What’s going to happen?” she asked me. I stopped and thought for a moment.
“Everything is fine. He’s just going to drink some water and sit down for a while,” I explained to her. We hugged and she blew her nose. Christian walked over to us in the kitchen.
"I’m so sorry Christian,” Liliana apologized to him.
“It’s OK, you didn’t know,” he told Liliana. They continued talking and we packed up the cakes for later, for when Christian wasn’t around.
After that little incident we all went to our rooms and continued packing.
